Spiffing Up The Cat For The Holidays

kittylogo133I know there’s a lot to do before guests arrive for the holiday dinners and gift giving season, but wouldn’t it be nice to look over and see a well groomed sparkling cat by your side. Your guests will be impressed, and it’s not that difficult-in most cases- to spiff up kitty and make em’ think she was professionally groomed.

First brush the coat so there are not mats and taking care to brush the fur all in one direction-preferably from the back to the feet. Second use a gentle ear cleaner with a cotton square to remove any waxy build up in the ears and freshen the ears from any odor. Next you can use a spray some spray conditioner or no bath cleaner onto a slicker brush and brush into the coat, a good quality conditioner will remove static electricity from the coat, make the fur shiny, and will make the cat looks so beautiful. In addition, the gentle fragrance will make kitty smell so clean, but not overly perfumed.

Finally, putting a holiday bow on the collar will let your cat join in with the festivities, and it is more comfortable than being tied into the fur-it will stay on longer too!

Ava, Nicole and Zak George

Calling all boaters! You’ve planned a day on the sea, a time for fishing, basking in the sunshine, and enjoying the fresh smell of the salty air. When you arrive at the marina you load all the essential things that you’ll need  into the boat and begin to prepare for the trip. Luckily, your good friend assists you by untying the boat from the cleat and taking in the bumpers. But wait-that good friend is your dog?

Yes, that’s right. Most people would think a regular house dog wouldn’t be able to learn such a strange task, but that’s just what Nicole Meunier from Plymouth Massachusetts taught her beloved Ava to do. With the help of Zak George from Super Fetch, Nicole learned some training techniques and taught Ava how to help out around the boat, and over a few months Ava officially became part of their crew!

Super Fetch, with Zak George, is a new TV show on Animal Planet.  You may recognize Zak and his dog Venus as a dog-frisbee-duo, they’ve been actively involved in extreme dog competitions. On Super Fetch he shows pet parents a three step training process that teaches their dogs new and unbelievable tricks, while strengthen the bond between them in a loving and fun way.

Ava, a three year old, Old English Bulldog caught the attention of the scouts at Boston Casting, who were looking for potential people and their dogs for the taping of the new show Super Fetch. Nicole Said. “I guess Ava’s great personality and cute face won them over.”

Nicole and her fiance do a lot of boating from Spiniker Island in Hull, MA and she thought it would be fun to teach her dog how to untie the rope from the dock and surprise her fiance. When they called to tell her she would be on the show, she was very excited. Ava’s three step process was “Getting The Rope”, “Come On In Let’s Go” and “Pull The Bumpers In”.

What makes this work so well for all involved is having and developing a strong

bond with your dog. “Ava and I have a strong bond already,” said Nicole, “she’s curious and always wanting to learn so she took to this right away.” On the final taping where Nicole shows the world Ava’s new trick, she revealed it to her fiance for the first time too. Nicole laughs a bit and says, “He was so surprised, he had no clue what the trick was going to be, until I showed it to him at the end.”

Ava will be on one of the upcoming episodes of Super Fetch which airs on Saturdays at 8pm Eastern Time on Animal Planet. Wanna See Nicole, Ava and Zak George in action- tune in Saturday November 21st at 8pm on Animal Planet! Learn More

Pet Industry Benefits From E-Marketing

As paper media begins to decline in readership and more people are getting their news and information online -pet webmarketingbusinesses benefit by becoming web savvy. Jumping on the web to find a telephone number, directions, hours of operation, and even shopping online have become a way of life for a lot of people, and pet owners are among them.

Nowadays a pet business must have a web presence in order to succeed in reaching the Internet world. A website is an extension of the business, but if having a website is out of the budget, creating a Facebook page is the next best thing -and it’s free.

Another option is to have a lot of online publicity links-ideally from past news stories. Having a web presence puts your business in front of potential clients, connecting to your company is more convenient, and it offers a way to track your marketing efforts, which is the number one goal of a marketing campaign after reaching all your goals. (How will you know if you are reaching your target audience if you can’t track your outreach and publicity efforts?) Certainly it’s about increased sales, etc, but doing marketing is much more than that-it’s about name recognition too.

SouthShorePet.Com offers web savvy pet businesses ways to promote their business and brand through E-Marketing (Online and Email advertising)  and the magazine offers a platform for the pet industry to share feature stories and get publicity.

  1. First-online banner ads are affordable, and can be clicked to reach your website or Facebook Page. In addition, they are easy to budget because they are posted by the month- rather than per click.
  2. Second, advertisers can reach a targeted pet audience each month by promoting their business with a click-able link-in the E-newsletter.
  3. Third- Businesses can promote their upcoming activities on the Events Calendar.
  4. Fourth-the pet industry can share their latest news and press releases.
  5. Fifth-pet businesses can be listed on the Quick Directory with a click-able link for only $120 a year.
  6. Finally-Some of our Ads track the number of clicks.
